Windmill Stars FC was founded in 1985 and has grown to be one of the most successful clubs in the Newry and Mourne area.

The Club has won every league and cup honour that it can compete for,  including the Junior Cup and Mid-Ulster Shield.

Windmill Stars FC winners of the Junior Cup in 2003.In 2015 the club established themselves as an Intermediate club and entered into the Mid Ulster Football league, Intermediate B Division. 

In its 1st year the club went on to win the Intermediate B league and win promotion to the Indermediate A league where the club currently compete.

With the clubs intermediate status confirmed in 2015, Windmill Stars founded their first ever reserve team which consisted of their under 19 Mid Ulster Juvenile league winners from 2014 coupled with experienced club members to guide them in to senior football. After 3 straight promotions, the reserve team now compete in Mid Ulster Reserve Division 1. 

The clubs youth development strategy, undertaken in recent years has led to a phenomenal growth rate in the children and young people that represent the club in various leagues across the Country including the Northern Ireland National League, Mid-Ulster and Lisburn Leagues.

The Club now has over 40 qualified coaches, 250 youth team players across 18 youth teams and 36 senior players and the numbers continue to grow each week.

In 2013 the club was awarded the McDonalds Club accreditation which recognises best practice in club and youth development.
