With the Mid Ulster Intermediate A league kicking off on Saturday, our senior team returned to competitive football after a good preseason work out behind them.

With a tough opening away trip to Laurelvale FC, the team knew they needed to get off to a fast start.

Windmill started brightly with a number of opportunities presenting themselves, however the opener came from the penalty spot after David McCabe was brought down inside the 18 yard box and Gerard Forde slammed home from the resulting penalty.

Windmill controlled most of the remainder of the half but rarely created any chances to show for this. In the second half Laurelvale grew in to the game really well and created a few chances which goalkeeper Marty Jennings had dealt with and pulled off a few saves in the process. Laurelvale twice struck the bar while Greg McCabe hit the post for the Stars.

A good start to the campaign which saw us pick up all 3 points. Well done lads
